School Council

imgID26946688.jpg.gallery.jpg

School Council is annually elected, by pupils, in each class. Two pupils are chosen to represent their class. One week they attend a School Council session and the following week they lead a Class Council session.

School Councillors develop an understanding of their rights and responsibilities as a school councillor. They take a lead role in sharing the school vision e.g. Bobby Brain’s Magic Habits for Learning, Annfield Plain’s Big Promise. They also take a lead role in key school issues; in recent years School Council developed and led a project to refurbish the school yard, they led the WOW walk to school project, developed joint work with the infant school council, met with visitors such as the local councillors and catering companies, as well as lead on surveys with their class.  Annual surveys undertaken by School Council are the pre and post staying safe week survey and a reading survey. Whenever teaching and teaching assistant vacancies are interviewed in school, School Council take a lead role in interviewing for new staff appointments .
